Panasport Wheels...best place to buy?

Related question on market - is there a reason why VTO or Superlites aren't sold in narrower widths? With TR3s and 4s I prefer 5.5", and would defnitely consider an alloy 5" if it were available. 5" is relegated to vintage rims you see occassionally, and new rims for 5.5" are extremely limited.

Randy

Randy, bottom line, you're in the minority, no offense intended, but most guys want wider wheels. The Triumph TRs are really a easy fit with 6" or even wider rims due to their ample wheel openings, we talked about 15x5.5, but we never had fitment issue with popular applications that use a 15x6, so we made (with VTO) what we had proven with Superlite would sell. As for vintage racing, what we've found out, is no one never adheres to the rules, they all buy wider rims  Our new VTO wheels are as light as our Superlite GTR race wheels, so we have no palns to make a seperate line for racing, street consumer get light weight and the dot rating and racing get a light wheel at street wheel pricing.

Hap, I intend on using 205/60-15's on my TR4. Will the 6" rims work alright with this size tire, or should I consider a 7" wheel, at least for the rear?

I run 205/55 on 5.5" rims and they work great. Had to back off from the 6" rims, as they let the tires hit the fender more (but should be less of an issue on a TR4 instead of my TR3).

The rule of thumb for a tire with an aspect ratio greater then 50 is that the rim width should be 75% of the tire width.

For example...

205mm/25.4 = 8.07" x .75 = 6" wheel width
185mm/25.4 = 7.28" x .75 = 5.5 wheel width

I like life simple, I'd say go for the 15x6 all the way around, now you have something you can rotate.

While I'm thinking about, I don't have the link in my head, but if you google the term mintylamb, you come to a UK site go to the tire-o-rama page, it will let you compare different tire sizes and graph them for you in comparision, pretty cool deal.
