Just packed the wife and kids off to Naw-Naw and Paw-Paw's so I can spend my every waking hour painting the wee car this weekend. Wish me good luck!

sounds like fun
post some pics!

Awesome, tell us what you are doing and how and what materials and tools.
And pics!

What: flat black with vermilion racing strips
Materials: Rustoleum Industrial rattle can
How much: intentionally not tracking

Pics soon!

If you haven't bought the rattle cans, look for ones with a fan pattern as opposed to a circular pattern. It makes a BIG difference when painting large flat surfaces. Also, look for a satin or semi-flat black. If you go with plain flat, it will look blotchy and chalky.

pictures before - during - after please - have fun!

I used Rustoelum on the "Orange Crate" and it "worked" but faded incredibly!!
Of course if you are using black then fading is less of an issue.
Also- there is a rumor going around that regular paint does not adhere to Rustoelum primer- don't know if it is true but something to consider if you are considering changing paint after priming.

Morris, see about getting real black primer. It'll probably cost you the same in the long run and will come out better. Trev is right, only use the fan tipped if using cans. Best to do only one panel at a time w/ cans. Otherwise you'll see streaks if you shoot the whole side at once. IIRC, Advance has semi gloss black in quarts and HF has cheap guns.

Maybe I'm stupid, but I always set my pressure to about 30-40 PSI no matter what gun I use and it comes out nice. Then again, I'm by no means paint and body guy. Perhaps ingorance is bliss.

Most primer will absorb water, so I'd plan on using an actual paint. And yes one panel at a time keeping a wet edge like brush painting. The flash time on rattle can paint is extremely short.

Temperature and Humidity can make a huge difference too, pay attention to those.

What's your temp there now? Kinda chilly here and we're usually about the same.
