Painting the Oil pan

Since I have the oil pan off one of my engines I decided to freshen it up and prepped it for repainting. Are they usually painted on the inside also (where the oil normally resides)?

No.

Thanks, it look like my pan had been painted inside and I didn't see the point of contaminating the oil. Anyway I sandblasted the inside clean also.

No point in painting something that sees no moisture and has a constant thick coat of fresh oil on it.
:iagree:
Aside the fact that, the paint could possibly flake off and clog an oil passage. NO WAY would I EVER paint the inside of my oil pan, pump or anything else inside of the crankcase.

Most engines are painted in a nearly comletely assembled state, with any openings carefully covered and masked off.
