MGB Painting rubber bumpers

I know you can add an additive to the paint to make it somewhat flexible when applied to rubber bumpers. What i don't know is the procedure to prepare the bumpers prior to painting. Suggestions are solicited. Also does the flex additive get added to the primer too ? Inquisitive minds want to know. Thanks, Bob

While I do not have the papers with me, my paint came with detailed instructions for coating rubber parts. It was a PPG single stage acrylic urethane. Don't remember the product name. You can probably find the poop sheet on line.

Bondo the cracks and scrapes, sand smooth, prime with primer compatible with urethane and shoot it with color!
Always wondered why the factory didn't offer this option. Makes the car look more refined and better lines. The second photo was taken in 2006 at Gatlinburg. We were there and I saw this car in the real. It was a beautiful restoration, the car was gorgeous! PJ

John did the paint and body work of my 1974-1/2 MGB/GT. I requested body-coloured bumpers.
