TR4/4A Painting front hubs

Folks, I just cleaned up the front hubs on my TR4a, and before I press in new studs, I wanted to paint the hubs. Is it ok to paint the face of the hubs where the wheels mount, or could this cause problems later on with wheel removal? BTW, I have after market “minilite-copy” wheels, not wires.

I've never had a problem painting the hub face as well. I believe they were painted from the factory, at least every one I have ever taken apart has had paint there.
