Painted Rubber Bumpers!

As the discussion concerning rubber bumpers appears at various times, I thought I'd throw out a few ideas that could save you a bunch of money doing a CB conversion and retaining the rubber bumpers! Here's a few photos of fellows who did just that and achieved a beautiful looking car. Along with this idea of painting them, there are materials out there where you can sculpture the shape of the openings somewhat more to your liking also. PJ

One of our former moderators here, Scott (aerog) has a painted-bumper MGB. Here it is(second photo).

Also, here's a photo of an MGB that retained its rubber bumper, but the owner flipped it upside down and included an early style grill (first photo).

One or the other, but both? I'd have to pass on that one.:highly_amused: PJ

The painted bumpers look great. Preparation of rubber bumpers to take paint?? Type of paint to use?? Any help appreciated. Cheers, David

I had the bumpers of my 1974-1/2 MGB/GT V8 conversion painted lower body colour.

First time I saw that was on a white car, it was in '85. I think it "completes" the RB cars very nicely.

I've seen Scott's car in person and it is every bit as clean/neat as in the photo, too.

I have to agree - the painted rubber bumpers really do look great and make a BIG difference in the appeal of the car.

Hmmm, I have a new project in mind,
retaining the black bumper,
cutting the windshield inhalf,
painting the car hot rod black,
with black wheels.
Photo's when finished.
Hope I don't get crusified here.
