Painted or Not - Steering Wheel Dust Cover Spring

As a quick add on to my steering wheel paint question...

The spring steel dust cover on the adjustable steering wheel column.... when new, was the metal left unpainted polished, or was it painted black to match the steering wheel itself?

If it was painted, was it black gloss, matt or textured paint?

Thanks again all!

Hi Andrew, It was bright metal possibly Chrome plated. A preferred method is to buy an aftermarket Stainless Steel one. They can always be polished back to as new condition.---Fwiw---Keoke

Andrew, the one on my unrestored BJ7 looks to be a well pitted and rust enhanced chrome piece. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
