Paint systems explained: from Alfa BB

Thanks for sharing those are good and easy to read and fairly complete. I'm sure zimmy has already printed them.

makes me feel even better about the paint job that I paid for...

"Condition #2: a very nice paint job, engine bay, jambs, trunk all painted, paint as good as or better than factory new. Sure to win all local concours.

30 to 60 hours disassembly (a rolling chassis: engine, interior, all chrome and moldings, most glass, etc)
100 to 200 hours of prep work
6 to 12 hours of painting
12 to 24 hours of color sanding and polishing
30 to 60 hours of reassembly

Total 178 hours to 356 hours Materials: $2000 Price $10,900 to 19,800"

I paid less than the suggested material cost and had some significant body work that needed to be done

The initial post is a pretty reasonable intro to paint for those who aren’t familiar with the subject.

Just be aware that it’s highly generalized and, in a few spots, not particularly accurate. But overall quite easy to absorb.

Some of those inaccuracies are covered in the ensuing discussion so it’s worth continuing all the way through.

PC.
