Oh I love CA Cars. Put TR End in the vise, two tugs with the BF Adjustable Wrench and the big nut spun off. Held the inner rack rod with small adjustable box wrench and put big Pipe Wrench on TRE and after two turns around with assistance it spun off 21 turns later. A good thing
Rut, new TRE is at least 1/4" Deeper in thread depth, adjust to same number of threads left exposed on the big nut as before. It appears outer dimensions are the same just deeper threads.

I like to clean them up with sandpaper followed by a phosphoric acid wash, water wash and dry, pre paint prep, prime and top coat x2. Figure out a way to heat the paint to make it hard and Bobs your mothers brother!
