Paint Booth Built

Paint booth finished, check out the foam door and cardboard hinges, hot glued to the door, and kraft paper on the floor. I have heard about wetting the floor down to keep dust down but also heard not to if you are using catalyzed paints, the moisture comming from the floor makes the paint react and cure too fast. So I am going the paper route

Hondo, you should be able to rent that sucker out to the LBC guys in the Charlotte area. Figure a way to fold it up and you can rent it out all over the country.

well I will be glad when the painting is over but I am going to hate to disassemble it when I am done. Hopefully if the plan works out, I am going to paint the underside of the bonnet this weekend. then I will paint the top side of the bonnet, doors, front fenders and boot first, then get the car in and shoot it. and of course pics too

With that small of a door and all the other sides covered in plastic, how are you going to get the car into the booth?

Nice pix.

In school we always wet the floor and walls before starting, even with using catalyzed paint. We did it just enought to get it damp, no puddles. It didn't seem to affect the curing time too much. Temperature is important though.

I don't know how much of dust will come from the paper or not.

Wearing a paint suit will help a lot with dust. You'd be surprised at how much dust your clothes will shed. You can get a disposable one at an auto parts place that sells paint.

be careful about lighting, you can blow yourself up. Don't put regular house lights inside the booth. put lighting outside the booth and make sure there are not high concentrations of paint fumes around lighting. Pro booths have special lighting that won't cause an explosion. Make sure you use a full, fresh air paint suit (no exposed skin at all). isocyanates are lethal. PM me if you want more info (my dad's health condition-40 yr bodyman).

the front plastic is taped to the floor so I can get the car inside. Also will be wearing a tyvex suit, resperator, gloves etc.
