Have you had one apart recently or remember for the reassembly how in the world you keep the curved rod with the 2 springs in place on the top half when you try to join it to the bottom half against the spring roller without having the whole thing grenading all the loose pieces????? Ready to pull what's left of my hair out.:unsure:

Did the same thing a few years back. My advice is to simply order a new fully wired control head. I’m sure others have done it successfully. But if it’s an original head, chances are you’ll find some other parts worn out after putting it back together, then you’re back to square one. Good luck. :smile:

Well I did finally get it back together but spent way too many hours on it. I Think it will work but I don't believe it will return to center after signaling. Anyway I can just flick the lever back to center with my thumb. That will do until I get a new control head. I see that the Roadster Factory has them now. Probably aftermarket from China. I wonder what they look like inside?.....not that I'd ever look just in case...?:D
 
TRF sells a nice repro that looks and functions as new. Lucas units likely never actually did. Once the original is worn
badly ,it is tough to bring it back to snuff.
Stick with a battle you can win IMHO.

Yah a new one is probably the way to go. Have you bought the TRF repro and found that it works OK?
 
I don't know if they fixed it or not, but the brass ring for the horn contact would come unglued on repros for quite a while. When it fell off internally, the horn would either not honk, or continue to honk until you disconnected the battery. I would still prefer a good used unit over any repros.
