PA State Inspection

Heh heh...reminds me of the time I drove a 1968 Pontiac Bonneville about a decade ago. Darn thing was the size of an aircraft carrier, with a thirst to match. Even though it was exempt from N.C. emissions testing, I had them test it anyway, just to see the look on their faces when it passed with flying colors, every year.

And yet it couldn't pass a gas station

I had put a set of Weber DCOE's on this Spider when the 2L was still in it and shortly after had to have it tested. Tailpipe output was FINE. Only "ding" I got was a DPO hole in the gas cap... there because the SPICA injection would vapor lock after about 45 minutes of run time, nobody associated with the car seem'd to know why. I got it cheap, replaced the wonky injector pump & induction with the DCOE's and tweaked 'em... the testing wallahs had NO idea what a "stock" Alfa Romeo engine looked like.

When I'd take my GTV6 in (again, years ago,) the poor hapless mechanics' eyes would glaze over, like I pulled up in a Lunar rover or something. One looked at it, brows furrowed, and after mouthing quietly for a few seconds, said, "Al-fee-ah....Row-mow?"

(I was just waiting for the other one to hit him with his hat and say, "Shucks, no, Cleetus, that's one of them there Alpha Romeros...they's French." Alas, the moment wasn't that perfect.) :jester:
