It's amazing where some of these aircraft are found, and more amazing is the condition most of them are in. Like the P-38 buried in an ice pack,( which is now flying), a 25 in a deep cold water lake, I think in Norway? C-47 in perfect condition covered in ice and snow in the Arctic. Who knows what's next. There's still a lot of stuff out there to be uncovered. PJ

went to the link in the article and while they have almost certainly identified the plane (it was being flown back for repairs) they don't have answers about the pilot. Sadly the plane has already been vandalized - bullet holes and smashed windscreen but it is being stripped as well. Hooligans everywhere I suppose

I read an article about this plane in our local paper on the weekend, as I recall...
The plane was one flown by "Stocky" Edwards (Canada's top fighter pilot of WW2) during his service in North Africa during the war, at the time it went down it was being flown by a British pilot who was taking it to another airfield for a repair, of course the plane never made it... Actually Edwards is still alive here in Canada...
