TR2/3/3A Oversize Rings 83mm

Greetings,
I have decided to stick with some honed 83mm liners and "G & H" pistons to cure my leak down ills. I have looked for +.010 rings and can't find any at the big 3/4 or F.W. Thornton. I have not looked at Hastings, Grant, or any other ring manufacturer or a "real" auto parts store. BPNW used to sell them but have none in stock. Does anyone know a source for +.010 rings for an 83mm three-ring piston. I do realize that if my piston to wall clearance and bore measurements are within tolerance, I should be able to use STD 83mm rings.
Q#2 - is everyone still using 30W non-detergent oil with zinc or added ZDDP for break in? Where are you finding it?

Typical oversized are .030" and .060". Some offer .020" or .040", and even fewer offer in +.005" for gap fitting. I.e. .005", .035".

If you call the manufacturers they may be willing to supply .010", but it won't be an off the shelf size.

You might define "honed" more precisely. Were the liners you are working with bored to +.010 at some point and are you honing those? If not, it is impossible to satisfactorily remove .010 with a hone. I find very few TR3 engines withe bored oversize liners, it is just not cost effective.

Pistons and liners are stock 83mm. I will hone only for the crosshatch to seat the rings and/or to adjust piston-to-cylinder bore clearance. In case the stock rings have too much end gap, I wanted to be able to cut that gap to the correct amount. A +.020 ring is a lot to cut, but it is doable.

There's blended oils for Break-in, Jim...Brad Penn comes to mind, but if you want to go the 30ND oil and add zinc separately I found this at Auto Zone.

Thanks Ken - good to talk with you the other day. I've got to keep this project going if we are driving to the Mitty.
I've got to go to the "Zone" tomorrow, I'll look for the Rislone, I think I had seen their ND oil, but had forgotten.

Be sure to read the Rislone label closely...there's another Rislone product in a similar bottle but it's not 'zinc treatment'.

OK, I guess, but never tired that. You might also install the liners turned 90 degrees from original, to even out the wear. Also as John noted above, .005 used tb be available. Keep us posted, I also have a couple of sets of 83mm liners and pistons kicking around.
