Overrider Refinish?

I am just full of questions lately!

Currently, the bumper overriders on my Six are a bit warn... scratches and such and discolorations. Nothing terrible, but I would like to "new them up".

Can anyone give an experience with this, and what they used to do it? Will a standard black rubbing compound work, ala getting scratches out of modern day plastic bumpers?

Any help would be apperciated!

Thanks!

Try Mothers "Back to Black".

I used it a lot before I took mine off for good. Works great on dash and under hood detailing as well.

Not to disagree, but to qualify... Back to Black is fantastic, and applies easily. However it lasts one rainshower or one car washing.

I have used both Back to Black and Griot's equivalent on our Volvo station wagon, with a large amount of black plastic, I find the Griot's stuff much more reliable, but a real pain in the neck to apply. Any stuff that gets on the paint can only be removed with bug and tar remover. But it has held up well; our plastic looks black.

My two cents... and this applies to a daily driver - that sees rain whenever it rains.

I agree , initial looks of Back to Black are good, but does not last long at least on black abs type plastic.

Yes, reading some reviews of Back to Black, I see in some cases, it didnt last long! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Might be worth it for that Just Before Show cleaning. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

B2B lasted about two car washes for me, using Mother's car soap. I really don't expect much more from these type of products and it take 5 minutes to redo them, so to me it's a no brainer.

Of course now, it's a real no brainer since I have no overriders!!
