MD, I talked to John at Quantum and he told me that if I could engage the OD manually that the bleed back valve was OK. I ordered another solenoid and lever. The solenoid will move the lever but it seems that it does not have enough power to pull it far enough.

One more thing, it seems that there is some resistance to get the arm to go far enough. I don't know how much resistance there is supposed to be.

Tony, thanks for the link. The article was very interesting. When I get back in the garage I will try that procedure.

That's usually a sign that the pull-in coil is not working. Sometimes it can be 'fixed' by removing the end cap and cleaning the contacts; but a new solenoid will do as well.<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:]One more thing, it seems that there is some resistance to get the arm to go far enough. But lots more resistance with pressure built up, as the ball has to be lifted against the pressure.
If you can push it down with your thumb, it's probably not too much resistance. That solenoid is STRONG!
 
I found the problem--waiting on parts.

The plunger that operates the contacts in the top of the solenoid is stuck. I had to force it to move in either direction. I used some penetrating oil and got it to move a little. When I manually move the plunger to operate the contacts the OD works every time. I know this is something I should have checked earlier but hey, I had a (or several) senior moment.
