My overdrive, makes a "thrumming" sound when it is engaged. The transmission is quiet when the OD is not engaged. I never really noticed it until I had the top up. It is rhythmic, and seems to get a LITTLE more pronounced under heavy load. Is this normal? Other than the sound, it engages and disengages smoothly. The OD was added by a previous owner. Not original to the car.

Is there anything I should be checking?? I don't know a whole lot about the OD internal workings....

As always, thanks!

Not normal. Most likely, someone has assembled the planetary gears without lining up the marks. Giant PITA to fix, as the OD has to be nearly completely stripped and reassembled out of the car.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Do you think there is a problem with me driving with it this way?? I hate to take it off of the road this summer, but don't want to chew anything up...

Thats what I was thinking... Around town I don't really use it at all. I may pull it in the Fall... And thanks for the link to the manual.. Mucho apreciado!
