I've been trying to locate an OD switch for the pre wood-dash cars, were they Lucas? Logically yes but after a few months Ebaying I can't seem to find one. Plenty of generic 220VAC type ones. Anyone got a pic or one for sale?

Andy.

Neither of those switches look like the original switch in my BN4 dash. I will be out to the shop tomorrow and will take a couple pics for you Andy.

OK I pulled the switch from the dash to take some pics. I don't know now that this switch is original or not. It doesn't appear to be lucas or any other british manufacture. It may be just a generic switch also like you have found. It does however seem to fit perfectly. It has the notch for the chrome bezel so it doesn't rotate. If it was changed at some point it was most likey done no later than 1977, the last time it was on the road prior to us buying it. Here are the pictures none the less.

Thanks for the pics Healeyblue. I'm also thinking the switch isn't original as the Underwriter Labs marking is a USA thing. It is quite different to my switch which looks like a 1980s Radioshack jobbie.

The unusual thing is that the 'green box' Lucas reproduction stuff has pretty much everything except the chromed toggle switch which makes me wonder if they weren't Lucas in the first place.

Andy.

Hi Andy
No solution to the problem --BUT a album of various photos dedicated to the argument
and a tentative to direct link to the album
