TR2/3/3A Overdrive help.

I see no signature here.
Thanks, Popeye and Geo. Basil has kindly shown me the error of my ways (though I still don't see why it can't default to "on").

Which I guess explains why the factory went out of their way, even modifying the OD, to make it operate in 2nd and 3rd gear.

Well, I guess there's stock and then there's stock. But all of my TRs, even the ones pretty close to stock, pick up some top end with the OD working. 5000 rpm in 4th direct or 4700 in 4th OD, you do the math.

And splitting the 2-3 shift will definitely shave a tenth or two from the 0-60 time if you do it right.

You've never driven a twisty mountain road in a TR with a working OD, have you ?

My TR2 does not have OD in 2nd or 3rd gear. What I stated is correct.

I have never checked top speed, nor do I ever plan to, but going from the 1955 magazine articles there is no difference in top speed direct or OD. I am certain that would change if you have a motor with more than the stock output power.

And you've made it clear on several occasions that you really don't know what I have done. The OD ratios between 3rd OD and 4th direct is very close. If the factory had intended the OD to be a performance option it would have a ratio that made it between each gear, not almost that of the next gear.
