...I use my turn signal, or turn on my driving lights. My embedded voltmeter reads lower than I think it should while driving, but I cannot attest to its accuracy. Might this be a voltage regulator issue? I'm running a generator on a 100-4.

As someone suggested in your other thread, you probably have a bad OD solenoid. The solenoid has a set of points that allow full current for a brief period to 'pull up' the piston, then switch to a higher-impedance circuit to maintain the piston retraction. Sounds like something is kaput with these points.
