After two weeks, I will get to pick up my TR-6 from Quantum Mechanics in CT tomorrow. The shop that John uses for R&R work got backed up and the work was delayed a week longer than planned, but I told John that I did NOT want to rush the job under any circumstances.

I found earlier in the week that the clutch disc was down to the rivets and the leaky rear main had saturated it with oil. I guess that accounts for the nice chatter on take off and the difficulty of getting into gear at times. The flywheel received a nice machining and all should be well in the leak department once again.

I'll get a full report and list of parts replaced tomorrow when I pick it up. I'm really looking forward to driving it again and working on the detail work that I've wanted to do for the last year or so.

TRF has a big sale on and I ordered a bunch of stuff to keep me busy through the fall weekends when I'm not playing golf. We're looking forward to the Cape Cod weekend and Lobster run coming up in the next two months, especially with the new OD installed.

More after driving back tomorrow...........

Never a dull moment! Traffic was awful and we got to John's an hour later than planned with the worst ahead of us as everyone was headed north for the final holiday weekends coming up.

I looked over the work that was done and all looked well, so I paid John and left to fill up with gas prior to returning home. Within 2 miles the car began to overheat so I went back to John's to try to figure it out, since a breakdown on Rt 95 was not on my agenda. After letting it cool, John pulled the thermostat and it was stuck shut........WHEW!! Big relief!

John went out of his way to help me and gave me free labor, antifreeze and gaskets for something that was not his fault in any way. That is real customer service! And during all of this, his lovely wife kept mine company and away from us so she wouldn't worry that our 7 hour trip back and forth would be in vain, or that more repairs were needed leading to another trip back and forth.

John is a true professional and I highly recommend his services.

The O/D works flawlessly in 3rd and 4th, the clutch is smooth as silk, although it catches much closer to the floor and shifting is a joy once again. I saw my old disk and it was down to the rivets and had begun to cut into the old PP and the flywheel as well. The rear main was leaking and the trans mounts were all cracked and soft, so those were replaced as well.

The total bill was $145 over the original estimate and that was due to the above mounts and leak repairs.

BTW, I used 1/4 tank of fuel more going down than coming back with new O/D even in the heavy traffic.

A very satisfied customer!
