"Window <span style="font-style: italic">Treatment</span>"?!?!

Stores ~dedicated~ to curtains and shutters? "Design Consultants"?!? And the dollar amounts involved in this?!?! You gotta be kidding.

I'll go back to th' cave and hybernate s'more now. Wake me when we go back to simply hanging some curtains.

Everybody wants to specialize. With costs soaring,
I just don't know. Went to a restaurant for dinner
last night only to find they've closed the place
up.

I knew I came from a different planet when my neighbors told me they were scrimping by and living on a shoestring, then spent $4000 on the "window treatment" for one single gol dern picture window behind their sofa.

OK - got that off my chest. Back to my yogurt and blueberries.

T.

Geesh! and I thought you were having computer problems..."out of touch"..."window treatment"...Yeah, just take a nap until help is needed to hang the drapes!!

Curtains - don't talk to me about curtains. I went through this recently.

PO of 'da shack had these hugely expensive fabric blinds installed in the windows on the first floor. When she got carted off to jail, they sat for three years - and to cut a long story short they were ruined.

'Da missus sees the one remaining one (that was only dirty) and decides she likes them and wants to put them in the windows downstairs. I price them, get defibrillated, and decide I'd rather have the deposit on a new kitchen...

After some intense discussion - related on her part mostly to how much money I "waste" on cars - we got regular blinds for the whole house for less than the cost of ONE of these things. There were 10 windows downstairs...

Doc, Alan.....fire....good.....fire.....warm.....cave.....safe..... LOL ......sun......BAD..... ROFL

:iagree: Yessir! We Brits get to see so little of the glowing orb that we tend to go berserk when exposed to its rays. You can always tell the British on the beach, they are the ones slathering on baby oil whilst all the other nationalities are dressed in long sleeves, hats and sunglasses.

Afterwards, the British are the ones with radioactive glowing from their lobster-resembling sunburn, walking around muttering "oh God, never again!"

hey doc, My teen age daughter was looking over my shoulder the other day and said
"18,000 post!! Doesn't he have a life????

Fifty-eight years of one, so far. Dedication and persistence in all things. :smirk:

I know how you feel Doc. It seems every few months I hear how we need to "freshen up" the curtains. Before I met my GF, I had the same vertical blinds in my apartment for almost ten years. I thought they were just fine. Now, I have to give input (all of which is ignored), and then go through hanging the new stuff.

I like the cave analogy. Caves are safe, dark, and if deep enough, no one can find you.

That averages out to only 314 posts per year Doc.!! You need to step it up a bit!!! (Of course as a BCFer since '05 it IS closer to 6000+ / yr.!! :jester: )

18223 posts as of right now
joined on 9-15-05 (1004 days a member)
averages out to exactly:
18.15 posts per day
about 544 posts per month
0.75 posts per hour (in a 24 hour day)
in reality Doc only sleeps about 5 hours a day (on a good night), and about an hour for eating, bathroom breaks, going to buy more CABs, burning some meat on the grille and such... so about 1 post an hour.
and he has no life - ha.

I am WAY outta touch too! I have spent the past two weeks with contractors, sheetrockerrs, electricians and plumbers trying to get the house back together after April's storms. My contractor sent me to a flooring place to pick tile for the bathrooms. Simple, gray, 2 x 2 tile....$3.70 a square foot. This means that my little 60 Sq foot bathroom alone will cost $222 for just the floor tile AND they say it will not be available until after July 1. (3 more weeks)
We went to a place we know of nearby where they had the same tile (2 x 2 gray) that was "discontinued" and bought 200 sq feet of it for $200. (Enough to do both bathrooms AND have enoug left to someday do the third one too!)
$200 for a light over the vanity? $600 for a 36in sink base? Who are these people...car mechanics?

Ha, but he has fun.

Kenny very nicely done
Also proves you spend too much time on here too as you definitely know Docs way of life.

He's reformed. He got a job where the computers are out of reach for most of the day. I OTOH work on th' things. Access to internet is always right in front of me. Instead of "YouTube" or "FaceBook" I burden YOU GUYS with my drivel.
