TR6 Outer tie rod question - TR6

I'm having trouble with the passenger's side outer tie rod. It just won't screw in to the inner rod. The screw that's on it moves fine. The driver's side has no issue. The old one wouldn't budge, so I got new ones and they don't screw in either. Do you think the rod is stripped? If so, any suggestions on make the tie rod screw in?

sounds like damaged threads maybe on the inner tie rod. could you use a tap & die set to clean up the threads?

The Bentley manual indicates a 1/2" UNF thread. It just so happens my steering rack is sitting in my office, my measurement confirms this.

The tap and die worked! Very happy about that. Never used one before and now I know. Not sure how to go about alignment, but at least I can steer the car now back and forth in the driveway.

Congrats, nice to have solved the problem. For general alignment you can start with the Bently manual which specs the measurements and placement of outer tie rod over inner tie rod. I'm sure there are numerous threads here as well regarding alignment measurement.
