Back in October Mrs JP and I spent a week in London followed by a repostioning cruise from Southampton - Belfast - Cork (couldn't land due to weather) - Halifax - New York City

Not much classic car spotage on the cruise :D but I do like big things that move - and they did have a go cart track which was a hoot!

the ship in Halifax

Of course I took pics of cars :D

Missed a Escort Mexico and a Midget pootling along. It was amazing seeing how many cars were in daily use.

Also loved this - which I passed on the way to the Underground every day.

The Jag Shop -seemed to be a restoration shop. There was a gorgeous E Type parked in front one morning. That said I was even more taken by the Morris sign to the left.

Oh and it was odd to see a descendant - electric and all (kids these days)

Not vehicle related but, we spent half a day in Richmond where they filmed Ted Lasso.

Oh and, in Halifax we went to Pier 21. This is Canada's equivalent to Ellis Island. We were able to find and have printed the ships info from when my mother, her sister and separately my uncle came to Canada. Also Tori's parents

This is my mom's

A fanciful view of next week's UK budget options -

Two degrees of separation?
Tonight I was reading your post about your ā€œRecent Tripā€.
The light green Fiat caught my eye and I immediately recognized the car.
My wife and I were also in London at the end of October on the way to South Africa. We walked up through Notting Hill and saw the very same car. I posted it in the ā€œspottedā€ section.

It’s pretty incredible that we both saw and posted the same car.
Here’s my pic. Check out the plate number on your pic and mine.

That's hilarious! Great catch. I suppose maybe not that unusual - a famous street and presumably the owner lives there but very cool none the less.

All true. I also saw the VW Vanagon that you have a photo of.
We also stopped back in London on the return trip. It’s on of my favorite cities.

Agreed. Love London. Mrs JP's parents immigrated from Liverpool so, as a child when she would visit relatives she would go to or through London. She resisted us visiting for years because in her (child's mind) it was huge and scary. We finally went in 2019 and both loved it. I must say that after this trip we were ready to head out of the city to the Cotswolds and other destinations.

Put the British Heritage Motor Museum on your list. You won’t want to leave there.

Sounds good - back in 2016 we went to the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu. It was equal parts wonderful and hilarious at the same time.

1. The Museum is lovely - and had things like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Movie Cars

2. There was a monorail and various clamshell rides - like someone had gone to Disney for ideas but then implemented them with a budget of about $1000. You hit your head on the roof of the monorail and the driver sat in an old car seat and used a jumper cable on a battery to make it run.

3. The Manor House. The Montagu family own it. The 3rd? Baron Montagu was the first to embrace tourism as a means of funding Royal estates. He was also the highest ranking British noble to be arrested for being gay in the 1950's which led to the laws being changed. He has handwritten notes next to all the artwork in the Manor with personal reflections made up example: "Aunt Edna could be a real b*tch especially when she had been drinking" the house was full of them.

4. The statue garden. A few times a year they have a shows where artists bring in statues for display and sale - we were there one of those weekends. They were lovely

5. The day we were there was also the annual Austin 7 gathering. It was amazing even though we got there as things were winding up.

6. It was also a day for collectors of stationary engines - those guys are really bonkers. We have cars that we can drive. They have multi ton engines that need a hoist to get onto the ground. crazy!

But all in all an amazing time
