Actually, during our training in the 60's (yes, a long time ago), one of my classmates was giving his first Inferior Alveolar Mandibular Block (numbing the lower jaw) when he went all the way through the soft tissue, came out the other side, and numbed his own index finger. Didn't realize it till it was too late. Good thing that was before the days of HIV.
