Our National Anthem

This came today and it really makes you proud!
Texas Tech University Basketball game, Feb 9th, National Anthem sung by 5 young ladies.I have never heard it performed better than this! An entire arena remains completely silent throughout the entire song. I mean you could hear a pin drop.

National Anthem- Cactus JH

I see a NASCAR race in their future.

If you think the last four words to the national anthem are "Gentleman, start your engines" you might be a race fan!!!

Thanks for sharing that!!! They are GREAT! I immediately forwarded that to a bunch of people!!

Now that's the way it should always be sung. I often wonder what people from other countries think when they hear some of the horrible, rambling all over the scale, crap renditions so many "singers" think is needed. It's like they are all bad auditions for American Idol and I usually hit the mute button as soon as I hear that nonsense starting.

Ha! I'll never forget the year at the Indy 500 when Steven Tyler at the end of the National Anthem sang, "...and the home of the Indianapolis 500." My buddy, Carl, never has forgiven him for that!

Very nice (and properly done!)! Thanks for the link.

I attended the Canadian Regional FIRST Robotics Competition in Toronto a few years ago (with our FIRST team).

About half the teams were from the USA. At the opening ceremonies, a young Canandian singer did a nice version of "Oh Canada". Then she proceeded to sing the American national anthem.

But you could tell she was very nervous and about half way into the song, she forgot the words and began to sob.
At which most of the audience (including a lot of Canadians) started singing the American anthem.
She picked up the words again and continued singing.
Everyone quieted down and let her finish, to a roaring aplause.

Funny....it was just a young girl forgetting the words to a song, but it was a very moving moment for everyone.

Very Nice!

I was standing about 30 feet away from him on that particular rendition in 2001. He took quite a few liberties with our anthem that day, that's for sure. Since 9/11, thankfully all singers at the three races in Indy have shown respect.

And who out there has not seen the totally disrespectful, crotch grabbing, Rosanne Barr version at a major league baseball game a few years ago?! She should be escorted out of America, never to return!

Beautiful. Brought a tear to my eye. I'd be extremely proud to have them sing Our countries anthem at any occasion.

terriphil, wow! how young are these girls, their trainer/music teacher did a wonderful job matching the strengths of their voices and arranging the harmonies to complement the ability of each individual performer, im deeply impressed, thanks.

I showed that vid to my wife, who was like "what do you want me to watch?" and was left speechless after watching it!!!

Excellent rendition of the National Anthem.

Not being born "American" I still gringe when I hear some of the attempts at singing?? the anthem.

Stuart.

My wife and I watch the national anthem at most races to see who will do a good job of it or who will butcher it to pieces. I said it as a joke, but I would LOVE to see them open up a race. I can't remember which race it is , but one of them they have all the drivers and crews children sing. SOOOOOOOOO much better and means a whole lot more coming from them than some of these other clowns.
