oulton park in the wet

Oh, man, the humanity!

Errr.
Where were the yellow flags after the first shunt?

Baz, I am with you. Where does the responsibility lie to stop things? It obviously had been raining for some time. Team owners, managers, race officials, track officials, heck why not the drivers? I do not understand the competitive mindset of this level of racing so perhaps I am niave but still.....when you can barely see past the windshield, it's time to pull it over or into the pits....imho

That's a pretty old clip. If I remember correctly, it had been raining lightly for a few minutes, then that thunderstorm blew in and flooded parts of the track very rapidly. Most cars were still on dry tires when the storm hit.

William's recollection is mine, too.
I'd remind you all that Oulton Park is in England, and if you stopped racing just cuz it rained, you'd stop a lot of racing! So you're always vulnerable to a sudden downpour like that.
The good thing is that accidents in the wet are usually at reduced speed, and often nobody is hurt - just a lot of fibreglass!
