TR6BILL

Just got my brake master cylinder and servo back from a popular rebuilder. Uh, I could'a bought new for less from Rimmer. Mine were NOS that were about 6 years old. Not sure if NOS is still available. Be prepared to shell out the buck$ when you get them rebuilt. Guess I shoulda asked first. Just a hair under 5 bills.

wow!!

to have my servo rebuilt it costed me only 156$ + postage,
and the kit for my MC was cheap & easy to rebuild myself

Please do tell where you had your Servo rebuilt....

Bill: I think they "saw you coming" Wow, that's ridiculous!

Can you describe for us what was done? Did they have to insert sleeves in the cylinder bores?

Frank

Sounds like you were unknowingly a participant in their 'Bail out' program.
Man, would I be hot.

My bet is that they did sleeve the MC. Given the complexity of the TR6 MC, that makes the price merely on the high side.

And while I'm sure Bill would never do such a thing, I find that my dentist always charges me less if I ask ahead of time how much it will cost. If I don't have to ask, it means cost is no object.

It was a place out in MI.

I cant recall the name but ill look at the receipt when I get home

they replaced the diaphram & everything was rebuilt
and even powder coated the outside assembly

as far as the MC, I did the rebuild on that & no I didnt re-bore the piston, it didnt need it'

I had my clutch master rebuilt and resleeved at another popular rebuilder 6 months ago and it is already leaking. I think I am snake-bit.

I went with Ted Schumaucher at TSI. He 'has a guy" that does the rebuuilding for him. Beautiful job and was about $200 as I recall. It's not listed on his site, but if you email him, he'll quote the price. Though I think it's about $500 if you have any form of Dr. before your name :driving:

Bill, try a new rebuild kit in the clutch master. I went thru the same thing and put in a kit from BPNW. No more leaks.

I have only good things to say about White Post. They did my TR6 master brake cylinder 4 or 5 years ago and still no leaks (I admit I have not driven it much). The cost was around $150 or about the same as a new master. My thoughts are that all the new ones will likely leak and the White Post rebuilds are not likely to leak. Also, I had White Post rebuild some crazy servo and crazy master for an XK150 Jag that could not be replaced or rebuilt. They did a beautiful job and the price was much less than Bill's rebuild. I know the TR6 brake masters are just a pain as far as leaks go but i thought the servos were pretty reliable (still on my original 1974); quick, where is some wood to knock on.
