Almost.

When introduced (1908 & 9) the Model T could be bought in grey as a runabout and red (then green) as a touring car. Then that wild variety ended in 1910 and it was offered only in Brewster Green, then in 1911 only in a Dark Blue almost Black; and finally in early-ish 1913 the Black came in for which Ford is renowned.

Incidentally, that change came roughly a year before his use of the moving assembly line that is commonly supposed to have made the limitation on color desireable.

How's that for trivia....

Any color you want so long as its Brewster Green.

I've come to the conclusion that no matter what you buy,
someone will let you know how bad they think it is.
I have a co-worker who thinks I should buy a "nice Japanese car".I said "Isn't that an oxymoron?"
I admire the people who buy what they like,not buying to please other people.Otherwise,I guess we'd all be driving/
riding '55-'57 Chevies,Corvettes,or Harleys.

Ever try to change the plugs on a Vega? Thought I would impress my girlfriend at the time by tuning up her Vega - Call to the dealer shop - "Yes, you have to remove the manifold to get to the plugs..." I still scratch my head over that one!
How about the Pinto? "Ford Firebomb."
 
I had a Pinto in my younger days, and while it did not, during the entire time I drove it, explode, I was able to drive around New York City, and traffic - even taxi cabs - would move out of the way for me. I guess the fear of me exploding next to them was enough. That was kind of nice. On the down side, the driver's seat was held in place witn an old bent ski pole! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif

I'm not sure how many, but I do remember reading that some of the very first Model Ts were available in a color called Brewster Green, right?

I've gone back and looked and Brewster Green was the standard from June 1909 onwards until replaced by Blue, so the Model T was only available in a verly limted number of other colors only on specific models and then only during the first 8 months of its production.

I understand some dealerships would re-paint cars, but that was an "extra".

Ford also pioneered the "convertible" selling anyone a chassis and different bodies to mount on it depending on the season of the occassion.... never really caught on.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonod.gif
