OT but sometimes it's better to be lucky than good

Even I have to acknowledge this

Was working in the basement today. Our house is about 75 years old and while everything is to code and beyond, it's a rats nest of wiring and plumbing there in part because any previous wires were just cut and left when new went in. Spent about an hour clearing out old wire, phone wire, coax etc when I decided to remove a plumbing hazard. PO's had taken out the old boiler and put in a super high efficiency furnace. Only problem was they left the old water supply pipe dangling straight down in the middle of a space that already has a very low ceiling. The only concession to safety was wrapping the end in bubble wrap. Anyway, decided to take out the pipe, got it cut, capped and half removed before I realized I had cut the wrong pipe :wall: decided to take down the actual pipe and solder everything at once when I realized that with one cut and one connector, not only could I repair all the damage, but, in doing so I would dramatically simplify the plumbing. So, 50 cents worth of connector and I literally cut about 12 feet of unnecessary plumbing and actually made more room than I had before.

Like I said, sometimes it's better to be lucky than good! Woo Hoo!

Sometimes that single moment of clarity among the madness is all we can hope for.
Good one JP!

I am neither good, nor lucky. But I am really glad things worked out for you.

I bet there were a couple heart flutters in there before your epiphany!

I have done variations of this so often that the heart doesn't flutter till the stores are closed, the water is 6 inches deep and the family is coming for dinner - and I hear my wife's footsteps on the stairs.
