OT - Alfa arrived today

Very cool. Looking forward to seeing more pictures and posts as you dig into her. I don't know much about Alfas - which engine does this have? 2.0L?

Hi Ian - she has an injected DOHC 2.0 liter. She's also a 5 speed 4 wheel disc brake car. Alfa's engineering at the time was pretty advanced. Hold the jokes on reliability and longevity please

Kevin - here are the details, drop me a note in my newly cleaned out PM box if you are going;

https://www.franceanditaly.com/

Come join us at Woodley Park, Van Nuys for a day with the best of French and Italian motoring machinery. This a non-judged show, from the rough restoration project to the serious concours offering. All are welcome, and our pricing structure is geared toward the collector with more than one vehicle.

If you don't have a car, plenty will be for sale amongst the rows of gleaming machinery. The intent of this gathering is to provide a meeting place for those marques that get little attention at the fancier concours. If you're looking to unload the garage or for that special part, check out our swap meet.

The registration fee is the same for both cars and swap meet vendors. A parking area is provided for trailers and tow vehicles. Food will be available or bring a picnic (no alcohol please).

We are sure it will be day you don't want to miss. Click here for a map and directions.

Contact us at info@franceanditaly.com or by voice, (626) 797-4221.

Normally I'd give you grief about another car, but this time it's all thumbs up. That's a seriously neat car. Drive it in good health.

Hey - just popped into your site to see how the Bugeye was coming along and it looks like you had an "off" on the GS. How you coming along Drew?

Still recovering from surgery on the broken ankle, so I'm an invalid for now -- and already tired of crutches. Tunebug and my /5 are put away for the winter. Come Spring I'll have to tackle the exhaust leak and a few other niggles.

Tom,

If you come to your senses, sell it to me!
I saw a Berlina here in town,& am kicking myself
for not stopping & talking to the owner.

Very Nice, amazing shape too considering Alfa's rustproofing history. I've always wanted a Duetto.

So I brought the Alfa to the hanger today. The shop in LA (Uwe at Omega Motor Sports) was great, and she seems to be a good jumping off point. She starts (but is cranky when cold since the cold start system isn't working), shifts, stops and turns. There is a driveline vibration that I need to sort out, but I'm not complaining since she was a total flier.

The cars are so cool. I love the movies where the cops are flying around in these cars. I've looked at several to buy, but they all have had rust.

Great looking car, Tom. Kinda reminds me of a Triumph 2000 saloon....

Nice looking car, Tom.

Now remember, I gave you a pass on this one -- now get back to work on all your projects!

Tom, as to the driveline vibration: Wrong U-Joints is a good bet. The "listed" Oriental replacements are too small a cup diameter. Get the replacements from Bob at Centerline Alfa. And a new "Guibo" and center driveshaft pillow block while you're at it. The vibes will go away.

The cars are stone reliable if they're sorted to begin with. Ask Bob about a cold start solenoid replacement, too.

And finally: Add some Marvel oil to the gas tank with regularity. The mechanical pumps depended on tetraethyl lead in "old" gas for lubrication. Without a substitute the li'l pistons get worn and the system will vapor lock from lack of injector side pressure.

MORE PIX!!!
