Thought "nervous" was either a "N" or three verticals. On two sides of the rear.

would that shop be run by a gent named Tom Selby?
He had a shop on Long Island years ago and did incredible work!He moved to NJ and i lost track of him. I sat for a few days watching him fabricate a body for a birdcage masarati working from a frame and pictures

We have the same 2 stripes in the SCCA....

Usually a person keeps em on while they have their novice license or up to 1 season.
(Your choice & sometimes a good idea depending on where you are racing)

We didn't but...Everyone knew that all 3 Pintos were rookies.

I would definitely have stripes if I ever ran the Elva in vintage.....
Kind of a "stay the heck away from me" sign.

Problem is....you get a lot of blue from flaggers & people who won't pass w/o a point or obvious mirror check.
(And if there is contact....Guess who "did" it /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/whistle.gif )
 
When I was in a freshman college psych class, the professor tried to convince us that anybody driving one of those Jag's (XK's) had a serious p.n.s (you can figure out the 'e' & 'i' needed to finish that word) envy problem!

I always thought it was the Corvette that was a giant phallic symbol.
 
Gentlemen,

Yes it is real, no it is not a replica although the bonnet and tub were replaced due to accident damage, yes I did change the racing number to the one on it as driven at Silverstone in 1956, yes I did put the origianl registration number on it and yes we drive it on the street and every other chance posible. Usuall on the annual C&D Tour put on by Terry Larson in Arizona (open only to "real" cars).

Bill, I remember vividly that he pulled out a model of a Jag XKE coupe & turned it upside down.....hehehe...even remember the couple of girls who ran out of the class blushing!!
 
I've got picks of one with a large group of other elderly exotics at Brooklands, Surrey UK in 2000. They were gathering there for a group drive to La Sarthe France for the weekend, Some sort of Auto race there in early June. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Some of the other elderly exotics included an Aston Martin DBR1, a couple of C-Types, several Blower Bentley's, a few OSCA's, an interesting Healey etc... etc... Quite the group to stumble onto on a spur of the moment trip to Brooklands.

If I can find the slides and get some decent scans I'll be happy to post them.

Greg - thanks for driving that great car to C&C every now and again. It is a real treat to see it so often - I'll make sure I stop and introduce myself next time I see the car. I drive the surf-blue 62 Mini Cooper. I think Dec 8th is going to be British car day at C&C. See you soon.
