Optimistic ?

WOW! I hope it goes for something close, I need to pay for this resto somehow!!!

Really, I think the price is a bit optimistic also, but it great to see our MGs starting to get some attention in the collector field.

that is a really, really nice car but the $$$ are a bit high I think. I'd rather have a quite nice car and save myself $16K ...

I agree it is a nice looking car BUT I personally do not see how they can claim 97+ at show. Too many variations from stock, Carpets, panels, top, hose clamps, choke knob, etc, etc. IMHO

I think that's an understatement. Yes, its nice, but I could buy a 2000 Corvette Hardtop just up the road for that price.

or, a nice bevy of LBCs. Let's see. . .
A nice Midget, a decent B and a nice GT. There you can have them all. Wouldn't she love you for that!

I would not pay that. BUT, if someone else does...then it is worth it ( to them ).
Lets think this over; $27,000.00 for a B that probably cost less than $3,000.00 new. Nice at first but if I paid myself $5.00 per hour; I am sure that I would have 8 to 10,000 in each of my cars. The 77B was in my garage for 5 years and that was between work that I had done. My 79 has had a 700+ hours in it and the Midget is still in the garage and has been for 3 1/2 years, 71 VW spent 7 years etc. I have too many projects. At labor prices of mechanics and body men... they probably have over 10,000 in labor.

76 Midget
77 MGB
78 MGB (stolen 5 years ago...police said it was probably a collector,"Nobody steals MGs")
79 MGB
59 Nash Metropolitan
71 VW
72 VW
76 VW Van
94 Jag
96 Jag
... After looking at this list; I know I am crazy.

There was a similar early-60s B for sale in Florida last year. The pictures looked to be about of the same quality as this green one (tons of pictures too). I seem to recall it finally reached something like $21k. $27k might be optimistic but who knows, I couldn't believe what this local one went for.

Those folks do good work on restorations. And the thing is, they probably WILL find a buyer at the price, or close to it, because there always seems to be someone out there with money who wants an A1 car but doesn't want to fiddle with it.

All of us know, however, that the real fun in owning an MG is fiddling with it. If my car was perfect in every way, I'd have nothing to look forward to.

Ah, the anticipation of getting that new part, or adjusting something just right! It's what I love about my car.

she cant stand me now!

I think I posted on 'the other board'but I saw a '67 nicely done in Victoria. It is no better than my car, and not as good in some ways!! It was appraised at $35,000 cdn!! That is somewhere around $24 g's usd!! The appraisal was done for insurance purposes, so we can be sure it was a little on the low side!! I cannot remember, but is that the proper breather set up?? Anyway, I would say that he is at the top end, but not far off!! I wish him luck!! And yes, it is a really nice car!!!

These guys have MG's posted quite frequently. Most recently they had a Red GT at around the same price. I don't know if they are selling them or not, but they keep 'em out there. They are always beautiful cars.

I was at Moss East today (it's near me in NJ)...and there's a "perfect" (according to the ad)'66 wire wheel MGB on their bulletin board for $12500. The picture of the car looked good too. The guy at the counter said it was a real nice car. I should have written down the #, but you could easily get it by calling the east-coast store.
I'm like Kim....I'd rather resurrect an "imperfect" car....more fun.

"Sports Car Market" magazine is probably the best source of US values for non-US classics these days. Recently, they've become pretty bullish on MG prices in general and their 2003 price guide shows MGB roadsters increasing in value by 11 to 13 percent. Their range for a "condition 2" chrome bumber is $7500-$12500. Perfect cars usually run much higher, as always. They deduct $2000 for disc wheels (!) and add $500 for overdrive. The "popular" British sports cars (Triumph, MG, etc) are appreciating more than most of the cars in the Guide, although I suppose they started lower.
