Optima Battery

Hi Keoke,

They responded with the following:

Our batteries are fully charged dry cell that needs no venting. Has a 4year warranty pro-rated after one year..
These batteries are make just for our antique batteries. If you follow our info sheet that we send with each maintenance free battery you will be very happen with our product. They have been out for 4 years this month and they are doing great.

----

So, it's not a wet cell but they really don't go into details. Anybody got that info sheet?

Yeah John, I can't pick a fly out of their ointment either, except all the battery manufactures have ridden that "Maint Free" bit to death. Most of them hide the filler caps and vents under a removable plate. Contrastingly, true Maint Free batteries can be of the totally sealed wet lead acid battery which only contain gas vents-{Hydrogen Purge}. So we will wait and see what they are about. Thanks for the feed back---Keoke

Hey John!, Maybe he be for real. I remembered Odyssey Battery and jumped over there to have a look they have extensive information on Dry cell Automotive Batteries. Non Spill and Non vented. They claim you can put theirs in the chubby box if you want to. The Dry Cells claim to fame is this type AGM battery has both High CCA and AH capacity. Optima & Exide compromise between the two capabilities. Sounds good to me. You might want to hop over there and have a look too.-- /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif--Keoke

That's not true at all! I can't get one because they don't sell 'em at the pet store. So there. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

I have been using a red top in my lil guy fr over a year now and have no problems with it. I bought a plastic boat battery box to mount it in. The neat thing about these batteries is you can put it anywhere and at any angle.
