MGB-GT Opinions Wanted on MGB GT

This car has been on the San Diego Craigslist for a while and has slowly come down in price a little.

69 MGB GT Ad

The ad has 26 pics of the car so what can you see?

Thanks.

He's certainly talking the talk with phrases like "street cam" , "heavy duty water pump" and "interior ready for custom restoration". But aside from the sales pitch it looks like a fair price for a decent car. The photos are limited and small so a personal inspection is a must.

The only thing I see that concerns me is the fresh over spray on the exhaust. The original paint in the engine bay looks pretty old so hopefully nothing is hiding under the new paint. I also wonder why there is rust in the fins if the paint is as new as it appears.

Still, possibly a good car assuming it's in mechanically sound condition.

It looks pretty nice, be very careful to check for bondo & hidden rust. Read Tony's 'buyers guide' again before going to look at it.

Well, I kinda said it like that - just not about this particular car, or any particular car for that matter...if it passes the magnet/$100 bill test, its probably priced about right for the market - but I don't know that market.

I agree. If it passes the body integrity test I'd call it a steal for Kaleeforneeya.

If you look at the two close ups of the fender seems you see rust bubbling through pretty prominintly.

Generally speaking these cars rust from the inside out and bottom up, so there maybe much more rust hiding underneath the shiny new paint job.

If it is in fact isolated rust then the car looks like a deal. If you have more time than money and know how to weld or want to learn it may be worth checking out as well.
