opinions on a 1960 Sprite?

I'm 6' 1", 198#, size 13 extra wide shoes, and I fit pretty well. Better even than the TR4 I had previously. That includes with the top and sidecurtains in place.

I vaguely remember seeing this up for sale before, those quilted seats stand out for some reason.

I remember the seats as well.
It was posted here before for our comments.

My comment then was that it must have been owned at some point by a female.

In my mind the mods I see on this one are not a big deal.

The deal is possible rust and engine/transmission condition.

Both of these effect the price greatly, rust mostly.

Jack pegged it, in a nice simple statement (yes, I get wordy sometimes /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif ).

With no rust, it looks like one h### of a car. Then, reality sets in and all the other issues that everybody is mentioning. The car is an awsome looker and with no rust would be a great place to start. Hope that it doesn't have any rust and you can get at your price.

I'm 5'-10" and on the north side of 200 lbs. and I can get in and out of my Bugeye just fine (albeit not as gracefully as I could 10 years ago.) I do have a custom steering wheel that is smaller in diameter than original which helps however.

Tons of thanks to you all for the speedy and detailed comments. I've asked someone nearby to take a look at the car. Emphasis on corrosion issues, engine and drivetrain.

I also checked on transport from Canada to here in Connecticut. AutoTrain seems to have lots of experience with that (import duty, paperwork, etc.).

Has anyone used AutoTrain to do this? Any success or horror stories?

Thanks.
Tom

Good luck, and keep us informed. We like a good story. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Hey this is my car.

Thanks for all the great comments. Yes it has to go to make room for the big Healey. The garage is full two Fiat Abarth's and the big Healey even had to talk the wife in letting me to park my 1968 Triumph Bonneville in the living room.

The Sprite is now on my patio under cover.

Cheers

Well doggon Mark, hows the rust situation and the engine and drive train?

Tom you got eyes on site, why don't you guys trade phone numbers.

Hi Jack

Tom's got my phone number and a guy from the MG club is coming on Friday to take a look for him. I hate rust to the car had rust cut out and replaced with metal. Someone has done the floors before I got it. It was going to be my Sunday car until the wife put up a fuss about not being able to take the family. That's why I got the big Healey.
The engine runs and has good oil pressure but leaks out of the pan and front cover both an easy fix. The master and slave have had new kits installed but I ran out of time to bleed the them.
Do you still need a choke cable? I have a orginal one in my stash.

Cheers
