TR6 Opinions on 205-70R15 tire size for TR6

Was just talking to the tire shop and one of the options that they provided was a size of 205/70R15.
This is about .8 of an inch wider than stock but a .5 inch narrower than the 215/70R15 that is on there now.
I have thought and had some comments that the 215 look to big and fill the wheel well to much. The 205 is also .2 of an inch smaller in diameter. This would seem to be a reasonable tire and a size that is available.
In an all weather version are there any reasons not to use this size or opinions and rational as to why the 215 would be better?

Thanks

Nort,

I put the 205/70/15 Goodyear's on my stock 5.5" wheels and they fill the wheel wells nicely and my speedometer is still on the money. I have stock suspension and didn't want to go with the 215's at that time.

I just got my new 215/65/16 tires and wheels in, but they are on 16" X 7" Konig wheels. The tire size is very close to the 205/70/15 and the original 185/75/15 that came on the car. The speedo will be off 1.2 mph at 60 mph if I remember correctly.

Sadly, they aren't leaving storage area until all of the body work is done. They will probably hit the road next spring.

Norton-

I put 205/70/15 on my car and I am very satisfied with them.

I wish my car were operational so I could get the little nubbies
worn off the tires!!

I've been running 205/70/15 for a long time and they filled the wheel wells up nicely. The only downside is that there doesn't seem to be many "performance" tires in that size. I just ordered Falken Ziex ZE-912 and I had to go to a 65 profile as they're not made in a 70 profile. I had the same profile issue when I researched Bridgestone, Kumho and Yokohama

I have 205/70R15 Michelin Hydroedge tires on my TR6. Bullet proof, excellent handling, super wet traction, very square profile, last forever, not cheap. Worth every penny. These are as close to performance as you will ever need. How many crazy soccer moms have you seen driving their minivans at breakneck speed with these tires. That is performance.

Here in Seattle we don't need wet handling tires.

Speak for thyself Don!
I have been driving most every day, rain or shine. Thats why I put all that epoxy primer and chip guard paint in the fender well and fenders.
Sheesh, you would never drive here if not in the wet. Put the top up and get wet.
LOL!

That's why you need the primer. If you do like me and never take it out of the garage it will never rust!
