MGA opening MGA front hood - HELP

OK....yes I am stupid , DOAH !

How to I open the front hood on an MGA ?

I pulled what looked like the hood release but nothing happened ,
but it might not be the hood release,

its just a cable with a knob that is not connected to the dash , probably should be connected /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Is that the right one to pull ?

is there another trick to open it ?

I want to pour some oil in the cylinders to let them soak and hopefully free up.

Thanks for your help

theres a hook looking thing behind the dash on the drivers side(in the usual hood release place)thats ur hood release.....I've never had a problem with it not working but I'd be interested in any suggestions becasue the MGA seams like it would be difficult to jimmy open

If the cable's broken, you're in for a real hard time....about the only thing to do is jack her up real high & hope you can get to it with a coat hanger or something strong enough to pull the latch....trouble is: location, location, location!

I will go out and look for the "hook" thing ,
thats not what I pulled which might have been the choke,.,,,

be back in a minute

and I hope drivers side is USA driver /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

yup....on the 'real' drivers side

Left side, look under the dash about half way to the pedals. There is a panel with a rod coming out that is bent into a hoop you can pull on. Pull it.

Found It !

always nice when you have an idea where to look /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks for the help guys ,
the bores are filled up with penetrating oil ,
will do this thru the week and with luck it will free up and at least turn over , the heads off it anyway.......
