Oops.. I bored the cylinders too far...

Just kidding.
I thought I'd share some update photos of my project. As of this afternoon I have the bonnet, right door, and boot lid in DP epoxy primer. the LR fender is down to bare metal and needs some more prep before it gets primer. but for the last few days the focus has been on the engine.
I have 2 blocks. one from a TR3, and one from a TR4A. the 4A block is missing threads for several of the head studs, and the cylinders in the 3 block are junk.... soooo, horror of horrors I have to use the 86mm cylinders in the TR3 block. All the cylinders are out now, only number 4 in the tr3 block gave me any fits, and that was the one with a piston seized in the bottom end of the cylinder.
Looks like I'll be using the TR3 cam as the 4A is a bit beat up looking (Unless someone has a smokin low-budget deal on a hot -rod cam) and currently I have the TR3 head in serviceable condition when this all goes together.
steady progress is my mantra, with a little getting done every chance I get. It's a looong way off still. but it'll get there.

Interesting photos showing definate progress. I sure like the small mouth TR. Do you know what color yours was originally? I trust it was not the "for sale red" that shows on top now. BTW is that a Briggs WM below the bench next to the TR head?

Original color for this TR2 was Geranium. that kinda off red/pink British equivalent to the Coral color so popular on 50s American cars. It's showing in a lot of spots. I'd love to go all original, but I just cant live with that color.
Good eye under the bench. That's actually a 1949 Briggs model N. Hiding behind it in red paint is a 55 Briggs 6S, and next to it in green is a 36 Maytag model 92. There's a 1940 Maytag model 72 twin further down the bench, out of the pic..
Don, I know! It's totally taken root right there! I gotta do something about that!

I like the louvered hood. Did you cut them yourself?
They are similar to my Bugeyes which were cut in the 60's.

Louvers on mine are of 50s or 60s vintage as well. the auto body teacher at the college looked at them and said they had been hand done, and very well done. I think they look great, and they fit with the look I'm going for.
That looks neat on the Bugeye.

Thanks I agree its a cool "period" mod I think and not too drastic..... but some don't like Any mods. Go figure. I did a low budget resto on my Bugeye about 6 years ago. I think building a driver is the only way to go. Unless you have the time and money to go for a "concourse" restoration and end up with something your afraid to drive.

Hi There banjo,

I just wanted to say that your Bonnet with the Louvres really looks cool & I`m sure quite "Functional" as well. I`m "Almost" tempted to have that done to my TR3 but I`m too much of a purist. That said; I just saved myself some $$$.

there is a geranium tr2 here in Pittsburgh with grey leather. probably the nicest tr2 I've ever seen. only one other I saw that is comparable was Ice Blue (more of a turquoise, not the same as Healey ice blue) with a watermelon (red) top. all original colors. think that car is from MI

nonetheless; the geranium is very nice and I could get some pics up if I can locate them.

I agree Willie. I have some pics of a stunning TR2 in Geranium, but it needs to be flawless to pull it off, and I don't have the bucks to do it that nice.
I had thought about ice blue. that looks good too.
I think the black will suit my needs for now.
