OK...I'm playing fair and not poking a stick at ebay..but I stumbled on this related to a collector car that I thought was slightly humorous. Bidding has been going on now for several days...and climbing quite high.. then the seller slaps this on late yesterday <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:]Actual miles on the car is 116,419. Odometer shows 16,419, but it had rolled over. Sorry for the confusion [/QUOTE]

oooops......just a slight oversight!!!

Hey, no harm no foul. Just because your off of your mileage by, oh I don't know, 100,000 MILES, I have NOOOOOOOOO reason to feel cheated!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/whistle.gif

Yes, but are they "Original" miles??

Yeah, those recycled miles are what to watch out for. An extra 100K "Original" miles would be perfectly acceptable. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

I tend to assume with any car that old, that the odo has "turned" at least once. ( I know sports cars tend to be a bit different) I had a 67 Galaxie that was on it's 3rd trip. Only showed 16K somthing miles.. but that was obviously not true.
Now my CJ on the other hand, has 69K and that's it. But you dont tend to rack up many miles just puttin around the trails on a couple hunders acres.

I always love it when they say that. Maybe some people mean that to indicate miles on the original engine and transmission. I dunno. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif

"Original Miles" should be an important consideration in any used car sale.

I avoid cars with "Replacement Miles."

How do you know if they installed "New Miles" or "Used Miles?"

Do the replacement miles meet OEM specs? Do they came with a warranty?

Did they save the original miles in case you want to reinstall them for Concours Events?
