OON 440 at Meadowbrook...

Just checked my records.

Sebring Car# 23 was listed as AHS 3804 - and that was driven by Phil Stiles! We live in interesting times.

I would love to know what happened to the bodies of those cars. They wouldnt just rot away. Anyone got one? I live in hope.
 
DerekJ: perhaps a bit off-topic, but I always enjoy spending a few minutes looking at your website. As a 100/6 owner, I've always felt we've been (your choice) the underdog/left out/overlooked, but your work gives the model the glory it is due.

There's little doubt that the BN6 is the best looking 6-cylinder model; I'd say best looking of all Healey models, if it weren't for the oval grille on the Sebring. Look at that, I did come full circle, and got back on-topic :wink:

I guess then these two cars are kind of sisters as UJB 140 was one of five factory BMC entries prepared for the 1960 Sebring race. BAT

Speaking of the 1960 Sebring cars, I still kick myself for missing out on UJB 141. Bill Bolton AHCO member with me and who lives just down the freeway decided to sell it at the Brooks Auction during the Monterey Race weekend in 1999. This was before the internet auctions took off and he didn't get any resposne from a few adds he placed in the national sports car mags. I don't recall he even listed in any of our club newsletters. I would have helped push the number up a little from it's final sale price of $55,200 had I know it was going to be auctioned.

Does anyone know who bought it or were it is now. I had hope to see it on the vintage racing scene by now. https://www.sportscarmarket.com/Profiles/1999/December/English/

Ive just updated some of the pages and also added a new page for the 1958 Alpine Rally. This contains a lot of colour 'stills' that Ive extracted from the Shell Oil Film of the rally

Interesting to note that UJB 141 is visually the same as the 100-Sixs that ran at Sebring in 1958. The number decal is exactly the same shape and in the same position on the car and the car has a LeMans bonnet strap and two spot lights.
 
Derek, Here's the common b/w shot taken of the three 1960 Sebring cars before the race. Geoff Healey and Marcus Chambers can be seen in the background. Number 18, UJB 143 went on to become the famous DD 300 car of John Chatham. All the cars were painted in the "light" BRG like the practice car in the previous pictures above.

My Response: I would have to the say that the BN7 is equally good looking and had a better motor. You proved that by putting a 3 liter in your car, right?

The comment is about the best looking car - not the engine.

One reason is that the 100-Six has the symetry of drum brakes on all wheels giving it a more balanced profile.
