We had ours recently. Shortly after I got there a waiter asked if we wanted anything to drink (no bar, but they server beer, wine, champaign, etc ). I said, "No, I'll have water when we eat". Well what do you know! The girlfriend of one of our guys started in on me! "Boy aren't you something, you won't even have your water now, you're going to wait, aren't you special." A couple of hours later I could have made a point about her inability to speak, and difficulty walking - but she wouldn't have remembered it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

I find at this point in my life a drink, when I have one, is best in the late evening. Other wise I just go to sleep. It's heck to get old but it beats the other choice.

However, never could have a beer with lunch, it would blow the whole afternoon unless I was very warm and working out side all day.

Three holiday parties at work for me (so far).
I've been drinking hot tea at all of them, which all my pals think is "weird".
S'OK....I've lost 40 lbs since March and less booze helps a bit.
I don't really want to drink and drive anyway.
On Dec 26, I'll stay over at my little brother's place (with my 5 brothers) and we'll work on some Guiness, so it's not like I'm completely parched. I'd rather drink with them anyway....more fun!

The ONLY thing I miss by being half a continent away from the familial 'stomping grounds' is the extended family and the opportunity to enjoy that company over the Holidays. Luckily, my only sibling lives ten minutes from me so THAT works well.
