Today we lost one of the two remaining Doolittle Raiders.

David Thatcher died at age 94 on Wednesday in Missoula, Montana.

Did you go to their reunion in Mystic in 2005? These guys were really heroes, basically a one-way mission with odds highly stacked against a return.

Dick Cole, who was Jimmy Doolittle's copilot is now the last remaining Tokyo Raider. He's now 100 years old and is still traveling. Truly a remarkable man among a group of remarkable men.

Earlier this year, we lost the last of the Navy carrier pilots who flew at Midway. Unfortunately, we're going to be seeing quite a few of the "Last of..." in the upcoming years. 95 percent of the World War II generation has now passed.

I remember not too long ago, I saw a documentary on the Doolittle Raid on the American Heroes Channel, where they interviewed some of the participants. I was struck by how ordinary the men seemed, yet how brave they actually were.
