I have fitted a new hazard warning switch etc.,but all that operates are the oil warning light and the ignition light. They flash in unison when the switch is on.Tony Barnhill reckons it's DPO wiring causing it.But the system worked before the switch broke.
So it looks like it's current owner(DCO) induced. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif
Any ideas or hints on where I should start would be welcome.
The car is a 1978 1500.

If everything worked before, have you checked the grounding? & did you use a large connector or individual wires to the back of the seitch?

Electrical isn't my cup of tea so I can't offer much help....

When the oil light and ignition light are flashing is the car running or not? The only thing that should be common between those systems is the fuse. The hazard switch is fed from the battery side of the #2 fuse and the ignition / oil pressure light is fed from the fused side. I am trying to think through how a bad ground would use the oil pressure switch or charge line as a ground path. When the car is running the oil pressure switch should be open breaking that path but it would be closed when the car was not running; I'm not sure how the charge light works on that car - still need to think that through.

They flash when the ignition is off. When car is running I need to have the hazard switch in the on position to get the flashers to work.I know that can't be right.
Do you think it's possible that there is a bare wire touching somewhere, and that's what is causing this?
I'll be looking at the car on Monday, and I think I'll need to remove the dash and investigate all the wiring.I'll check the fuses first.

By "flashers" do you mean directionals or 4-way hazards?

There are a couple different hazard switches. Did you check to see that the contacts were the same?
