Yea!!! Car finally went to the body shop on Saturday. Hopefully, in about 3 weeks, she'll be back at home, safe and happy with a new paint job. From there, just pop the engine and tranny back in (hopefully the engine will start LOL...), reassemble the entire car, rebuild the brake system, change all the suspension bushings....

Hate to say, but I've often thought "what did I get myself into?" But then, a little progress gets made and you can start to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Was hoping to have her back together for the British Car show in San Diego at the beginning of October. Not sure if I'll be able to make that, but that's what I'm shooting for.
 
Having just done my brakes on my 77 midget, I can recommend running the lines prior to putting the engine in, especially the front right line that goes under the engine and across the cross member. Figured that you might know this, but though I would throw it out there anyway...

Congrats on the progress! What color did you go with?
 
My '79 B is going into the shop tomorrow for body work and a new paint job (the new trunk lid just arrived at the front door) so I'm right there with you! Should be three weeks for me as well so we'll have to celebrate and do the show and tell pictures when we get our new cars back!
 
Well, I may make a few purists cring, but instead of the original Flaminco Red, I've opted to go with a custom paint job. It will be a full color change, inside and out, under the boot/bonnet, everywhere. I'm going with a Dark Blue metal flake on the top, blending (a fade type paint job) into Silver metal flake at the rockers. Originally, I planned on the Blue/Silver color scheme matching the original break at the rocker chrome, but my 14 y/o son has talked me into the blended paint job, which I think will look great and very original.

Luckily for me, this car has been a west coast car it's whole life, so there is absolutely NO rust anywhere in the car.

As for the brake lines, I appreciate the input. Always nice to be reminded of easier ways of doing things. My luck, I would have tried it after setting the motor in, then had to deal with that frustration. LOL....
 
That paint should look sharp. I am stripping mine down after next year (probably) to resto, so I will be feeling the pain soon too. spent all weekend getting it driveable again after 6 months, though, so for now I am not thinking about anything else!
