saw that on TV the other night - only works once but when it does.....

I had seen that on TV Tuesday morning...a fun play, similar to one a year or two back where the quarterback said this is the wrong ball and walked to the sideline to exchange it before he sprinted to the end zone.

When I was at Lehigh, our team was pretty bad one year, but pulled a trick play where the quarterback bent down to tie his shoe, and when the defense relaxed we ran a wildcat type play pretty successfully, against our arch-rival Lafayette.

The only problem I have with the play, is that the coach was involved in its execution during the game...by calling over to his team from the sideline that there "should have been 5 more yards" on the penalty, which the QB then "marked off". (Two coaches and the QB were interviewed on CBS on Tuesday morning)

These were middle schoolers...and both sides would/should pay attention to an adult "giving instruction" from off the field.....hence the success of the play.

A true trick play would have involved only the players...NOT the coaching staff, especially at this young age.
