ahhhhhhhhIm going to kill Mosss
they sell me a thank that needs a weird ring to hold in the fuel float but not the ring the screws for it yes but not the float
gaskets yes locking ring yes

when I shiped my car the to norway the shippers (Fromm amreica dont use them)popped one of the rear tires off the rim and then lifted my car with a forklift killing the gas tank so I put the car in storage for the winter with the cap off to dry the tank and this spring ordered a new tank from moss UK wich took fore ver to get here I dropped the old tank no problem no rust (wow first of my MGs no to be a rust bucket) then popped out the float removed every thing that looked removable and I had to leave so I left the new tank and took the old and toasted it. so then next time I got over to the place the car is stored (only asscsable during work hours) I fond I dint have everything to put the new float in!!! so I ordered the locking ring 10 days later that came that want if but sure new on wound be bad so I ordered every ring on the page nope rubber cork every thing but what the locking ring fits into !!!!!!!

So you are missing... 17? If anyone knows the diameter, seems to me it's the sort of thing a good bearing & seal shop should be able to supply?

17 is rubber
13 is cork but at least has the 6 holes
the locking ring got that but not the part it bayonets into

Don't know how the Moss UK catalog looks but our US catalog shows all the items that come with an assembly by indenting the name of those that go with an item listed above them....on that particular page in my catalog, nothing is indented meaning every individual item number must be ordered separately & in the on-line catalog there are nonotes that say any item comes with another item.

Oh, never throw anythng away until the replacement is finished...you never know what you'll need off the old part!

I've got an old tank at home. If you can wait, I can try to dig it out tonight and take some photos and measurements. I was thinking the locking ring actually bayonets into tabs that were made into the new tank.

It does. Sorry, I was confused by what type car we're talking about - his avatar/sig shows an MGB but the diagram is for a Midget....

the new tank just has six screw holes. I htought I had everything off the old tank that could come off
my buddy here with a B has the same set up on the side of his tank it looks welded on
steve

Are you working on a Midget or an MGB?

the shaguar is a midget
so I cant put the tank up till I get this sorted
and the sun is finaly out !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which type sending unit ("fuel float") do you have - #11, #12, or #15?

If you have #11 or #12, it bolts through the unit itself with the 6 screws......if you have #15 & your tank isn't set up with the tabs for the lock washer, you have the wrong unit - or wrong tank

Your Midget is a '72-'73, I think? Therefore, you should have #11 or #12.

its a 73 but #15 is what I took out of the old tank
I have the wrong tank
thank you
steve

Okay - which is the easiest to get..a tank or another sender?

So maybe not Moss' fault after all? hehe... Don't worry, we all know the frustration of not being able to drive it when the good weather hits. Mine is going in for new plates this week!

Make sure #12 will mate to your car's electrical.

At least once the sun is out in Norway, it should be out for a good long time!! :jester:
