Earlier this summer, my pal's step-son went to bed fine and woke up paralyed from the waist down. After about six weeks in albuquerque at a hospital, he was sent to John Hopkins. Diagnosed with a disease that may..or mat not be reversable. Anyhow, tis 16 year old red haired frail kid has never whined or complained, just keeps aying that he'll deal with whatever the outcome is. Motorhead dosen't discribe the young man. Kenneth has tinkered and learned in the back yard motorcycle shop his step-dad Cliff has. Builds, drives and loves motorcyccles. Was building a VW powered trike like Cliffs, thats on hold for now. They found hin a very clean 85 Monte Carlo SS...big long doors for easy loading of his chair after he transfers from it to the car. Getting it home the found a knock. We towed it to my shop a couple of days ago and with Cliff's Dads help, we have it overhauled and back in. Should finish it today and then I'm suprising him with a top of the line set of tires...he dosen't need a worry like that. The first day Kenneth was there trailed by my junk yard dog Nuggie, but got pretty worn out so wasn't there yesterday. I told him I'd paint the Monte pink...he offered to run over me with his chair. I had to share this story not for what we're doing, but to let folks know that not all teen-agers are gun toting thugs...just a kid trying to get by. May not be PC..but keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

PC - Schmee-Cee, Jack!

Kenneth's on the list here at Trinity.

If this offers any hope, the son of a friend of ours had a very similar occurrence, has to be 3-4 years ago. I am happy to report that after this life-changing ordeal (for the whole family!) he has started making dramatic improvements and everyone is hopeful that he may even walk again!!! Cause AND cure have been a total mystery!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

Thanks for sharing Jack. Who cares if it's PC? THose who do, can pray for him. Those that don't can still think positive thoughts. Same difference in my book.

Well done for helping this kid out, and more power to you! We already knew that you're a good guy, though /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif With the exception of the pink paint suggestion, that is........

Appreciate all the kind words....but as luck would have it, I guess we should have totally torn the engine down. After re-assembly we cranked it and it sounded good till it got warm...now it has a strange noise. We've gotten two pro Chevy engine builders involved and both agree it sounds like a cam bearing. Has great oil pressure and power..but the noise is there. Talked to the wife before she left for work and together we'll probaly just go ahead and get a reamn. 350 short block that one of the engine builders got in and the buyer backed out. Lifers and gaskets....and a little work....but all the 305 stuff is a direct swap. Plus Kenneth will have a dependable engine. If I can't afford to donate $500....I guess its time to quit.

Good heart, Jack. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

Jack, that is a sad and heart warming story, he will be in my heart as well.
