TR2/3/3A One more tr3 gas tank?

I bought a new gas tank and I am wondering if I should rinse it out when it is out of the car. It appears to have welding flux on the inside or some kinda of grit when I reach in the through the sender hole. However, it is clean, new and shiny inside. Or should I just put a paper filter in for awhile and go for it. I mean heck I have the tank in. This tank job has become more than I thought it would be. It is the old saying if you want to make God laugh tell him your plans.

Hi Steve - I recently started a thread on this regarding the, um, MGC gas tank and the consensus was that for SoCal just install the darn thing and go.

Not sure about for WA state - let's see if any of the guys want to pass along their thoughts on if the tank needs to be cleaned or coated first. (I am thinking not since it is new - I coat my used ones as a matter of course)
