Me? I'd LOVE to have that Traction Avant in the last picture!

Just spotted a Dauphine yesterday, parked up at a local import repair garage, in crappy shape though, probably parked up for years...

In a heartbeat!! I know where there are 14 parked in a field.

In 1960, there were 100 Henney Kilowatt Electric Dauphines produced.

Henney Kilowatt
Tthe 14 I know of all have french registrations are (I suspect) the graveyard from a company in Ontario Called Feel Good Cars to produce electric cars. Feel Good Cars abandoned the Dauphine and intead sell the ZENN electric car (which, ironically is illegal in Ontario :wall: )

Car Talk pronounced the Dauphine as the 9th worst car of the Millenium and proclaimed it as being "unencumbered by engineering."

I love them!

There is a Traction Avant in a garage around the corner from me - the guy has two DS wagon which I aodre (and have previous mentioned)

My Dad had a Traction Avant - I'll see if I can find a picture and scan it. For years he would look in hobby shops to see if he could find a die cast version - I found one and gave it to him 2 weeks before he died. I have it now.

BTW they also made RHD Traction Avants in Slough - we have one at British Cars Days - legitimately a British car!

Me too! I saw a beautiful 1939 Traction Avant convertible a few weeks ago. The owner found it in a garbage dump and brought it back to life.

I spent some time driving one of those Re:No! when I was in college. Funny little cars. Glad to get back in the flathead.

There is a Caravelle ("sport" Dauphine)down the street.
It has been sitting in a driveway for months- hope to see it move someday!

I really like the look of the Caravelle (there's a surprise

) A few years ago, saw a lovely one for sale - fellow had bought it on impulse - probably paid at least twice what it was worth and had it shipped from the east coast - then his wife found out and the fun began.

The Caravelle is a great looking car. Renault's "Karmann Ghia".

Here are some photos of that Caravelle down the street. It isn't for sale, he said that he has had it since '85 and will "someday" restore it.

Don't know that I have seen a hardtop like that. If you block out the front end, the windshield and back almost has a 57 cheby look to it.

Pretty sure that's the Caravelle coupe (as opposed to the cabriolet with a hard top).

No- that is a removable hardtop. He said that he has had it off occasionally.
Bill

Yes - indeed the coupe's top does unbolt and can be removed, but on the coupe you won't find the cabriolet's smaller back seat making room for the folding bows, and cloth top.

Thanks Bill - I wasn't sure. They sure are pretty though - quirky! but pretty (Like most all French Cars ;)
